The new Women’s Super League season is almost here — and the headlines are already heating up. Brighton are rebuilding with intent, Arsenal are sending a teenage talent to the NWSL, and Manchester City are eyeing a move for one of Manchester United’s brightest players. Here’s what you need to know today.
Brighton aim higher
Brighton & Hove Albion want more after last season’s fifth-place finish. They’ve lost some big names — captain Vicky Losada, vice-captain Guro Bergsvand and top scorer Nikita Parris — but they’ve moved fast to refresh the squad.
New arrivals to note:
- Chiamaka Nnadozie (GK)
- Moeka Minami (DF)
- Manuela Vanegas (DF)
- Carla Camacho (FW)
- Rosa Kafaji (FW)
There’s also extra attacking spark with Michelle Agyemang returning on loan after an impressive Euro 2025. Off the pitch, plans for a new stadium by 2027 underline Brighton’s ambition.
Arsenal starlet heads to the NWSL
Arsenal’s 18-year-old midfielder Laila Harbert is joining the Portland Thorns on loan until the end of 2025. She’s already played for Southampton and Watford, captained England U-17s to a European final, and helped the U-19s qualify for next year’s U-20 World Cup.
The loan should fast-track her development with regular minutes in the NWSL.
City target United’s Grace Clinton
The big rumour: Manchester City are interested in Grace Clinton ahead of the 4 September deadline. Clinton shone during England’s Euro 2025 run and won PFA Young Player of the Year in 2023–24. She’s under contract at Manchester United until next summer.
United boss Marc Skinner has said there’s no official bid yet. Clinton is currently recovering from an injury, which could complicate any move — but the story is one to watch.
